Do you know your library card PIN?
To help keep your library account more secure, Tacoma Public Library will soon begin requiring a PIN when using our resources. We are starting by requiring a PIN at sign in to OverDrive, Libby, and Kanopy beginning Tuesday, Oct. 13.
What this means for you:
The next time you use OverDrive, Libby, or Kanopy after the update on Oct. 13, you’ll be asked to sign in again using both your library card number and your PIN.
Don’t know your PIN?
Your PIN is most likely the last four digits of your phone number, or the last four digits of your barcode.
What other library resources may soon require you include your PIN at login?
Many libraries already require a PIN to sign into online resources such as the databases listed in our A to Z eResources page. In the future, you may see PIN login added to more digital services to help keep accounts secure.
Are other libraries doing this?
Yes, our neighboring libraries already require PINs for OverDrive, Libby, and many of their other eResources.
