Back to School — the library’s educational resources are getting an upgrade!

New: Tutoring and Test Prep at Tutor.com

Tacoma Public Library is moving to Tutor.com for homework help, test prep, and career resources.

Via Tutor.com, students of all ages can get help with any kind of academic question in math, science, English, social studies and writing. Expert tutors can even help with AP®-level and intro-level college coursework. Tutor.com also offers SAT/ACT Essentials as well as help preparing for the GED®, HiSET®, TASC®, ASVAB, or U.S. Citizenship Test.

In addition, Tutor.com offers anonymous, private, online career coaching, resume review, and job search assistance in their Career Center—absolutely FREE to you. Tutor.com replaces Brainfuse HelpNow and JobNow, which we no longer offer.

New: eBooks and Read-alongs for Kids with Tumblebooks

We are also removing Bookflix and Trueflix because they were canceled by Scholastic. However, we have added a new app called Tumblebooks with similar offerings.

For those who formerly enjoyed our previous database, BookFlix, you’ll be pleased to know that Tumblebooks has even more titles available and is also available as an app. eBooks with audio read-along are also available on Tumblebooks for many popular children’s chapter books and graphic novels. Tumblebooks also has titles available in French and Spanish. Educators also have access to lesson plans and quizzes for many titles through Tumblebooks. If you haven’t already, please check out Tumblebooks.

Tacoma Public Library strives to be responsive to the evolving needs of our community while being responsible and resilient with our given funding.
