Director’s Blog: June 2023

June is nationally recognized as LGBTQIA+ Pride Month—in Tacoma we can also look forward to celebrating Pride in July. We hope you’ll check out TPL's Pride month activities and programs at your libraries.

June is also the month that the school year ends, and the Summer Reading Challenge begins! It’s so important for readers of all ages to stay engaged and reading during the summer months, and Tacoma Public Library hosts the Summer Reading Challenge to make it fun and easy for the whole family.

Readers of all ages can sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge from June 20 to August 12. You can pre-register by downloading the free Beanstack app to track your progress on a digital bingo card, or pop into a library starting June 20 to pick up a paper bingo card.

Remember that because of the Pathway Partnership, Tacoma Public Schools students can use their school IDs as their library cards to check out books, eBooks, magazines, graphic novels, and audiobooks to meet the reading requirements.

You’ll earn prizes along the way and be entered into amazing drawings! We look forward to seeing you this summer and having fun, All Together Now, with the Summer Reading Challenge.

Thank you for supporting Tacoma Public Library!
