Director’s Blog: April 2023

National Library Week is celebrated in April. This year, the theme is "There's More to the Story," reflecting the many services and opportunities that libraries offer beyond circulating books.

Tacoma Public Library's story of service and opportunities is indeed multifaceted. Through our community partnerships and the dedication of library staff, we are able to offer so much beyond our collection:

  • Historic archives that are continuing to chronicle the stories of Tacoma
  • A variety of engaging, educational, and entertaining programming for all ages
  • A Digital Media Lab where you can get one-on-one help with your video, graphic, or audio project
  • Items other than books to check out, such as mobile hotspot and museum passes, that provide free access to internet and community attractions like the Tacoma Art Museum, Rhododendron Species Garden, and more

This National Library Week, I encourage you to explore your local library and discover all the stories we have waiting for you, on and off the bookshelves.
