Not Just Any Paddle Boards

Robin Hood (left) and Bert Wilson stand beside the paddle boards they built in their woodworking class at Stadium High School in this photograph from October 24, 1939. The two young men had just ridden their 12 ft. 7 in. long boards almost 25 miles down the Carbon River. Starting several miles upstream from South Prairie, they negotiated their boards around rapids, log jams and rocks for over 5 hours.
