Lowrider Piñata- I was directly inspired by Justin Favela's work when creating this piece for a display. Justin Favela (born 1986) is a mixed-media artist who is known for making large-scale installations and sculptures in the piñata style or medium. His work references pop culture, art history, society, cultural commentary, and his own Guatemala-Mexican-American heritage. Lowriders and pinatas are such iconic symbols within the Chicanx art world, I really had a lot of fun assembling this to share during Latinx Heritage month.
