Learn about changes to COVID test kit distribution at TPL

Tacoma Public Library has worked throughout the pandemic with our partners at the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department (TPCHD) to distribute thousands of COVID-19 testing kits, free of charge, through our libraries.

Based on information received from our partners at Tacoma Pierce County Health Department (TPCHD), we are making changes to our COVID testing kit distribution.

EverlyWell mail-in PCR test kits

TPCHD has advised us that EverlyWell is ending their manufacturing and testing for PCR kits. The last day EverlyWell labs will accept a kit is June 30, 2023. If you have a PCR kit, make sure to mail it in as soon as possible. TPL will no longer distribute the mail-in PCR test kits from EverlyWell.

iHealth Antigen Rapid Test Kit

TPL will continue to distribute the iHealth Antigen Rapid Test kit. Although the tests may be past the printed expiration date, the Department of Health has stated that as long as the line next to the “C” on the test stick appears, the test is viable.

If you have questions about the viability of test kits, please contact TPCHD at 253-649-1500.
