Wheelock Library will reopen on Thursday, June 5, 2025

Wheelock Library, located at 3722 North 26th Street in Tacoma's Proctor neighborhood, will reopen on Thursday, June 5, 2025. Wheelock's book drops will also reopen at this time.

Wheelock has been closed since February 2025 for HVAC repairs. During this closure, lobby services have been offered three times a week for patrons to return materials, pick up holds, and check out new materials.

The final three days of lobby service will take place:

  • Saturday, May 31 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Tuesday, June 3 and Wednesday, June 4 from 5-7 p.m.

"We are grateful to Wheelock's patrons for their patience while we made necessary updates to the HVAC system for a more comfortable and efficient library environment," stated Deputy Director Kendra Jones. "We were also able to make some small repairs and add a teen area during the closure," Jones continued.

Wheelock Library will fully reopen in time for the annual Summer Reading Challenge that begins on Saturday, June 21, with several programs planned at Wheelock Library. To see all upcoming events at Wheelock Library, visit TPL's events calendar.
