Welcoming Week Storytime

Welcoming Week (September 14-23) is a time for communities to build cross-cultural relationships and strengthen their commitment to welcoming immigrants and refugees.

Families visited the Moore Branch of Tacoma Public Library on Saturday, September 22, 2018 to celebrate the many different languages that are spoken in the community. Guest speakers shared picture books in Spanish, Russian, Chinese, and Ukrainian.

After listening to stories, kids made a welcome wreath to take home. Handprints were traced and more languages were shared. One wreath featured “welcome” in five different languages, contributed by storytime attendees.
