Johnson Paint & Wallpaper Co. Cans of enamel and flat paint with the Johnson's label line the wooden shelves in late March of 1948. Besides paint, the store also handled varnishes as evidenced by the display of Gardner Bubble Viscometers and the semi-filled jars of ingredients. The man in the photograph shown pouring liquids has not been identified. April 11-21, 1948, was advertised as "Clean-up, paint-up, fix-up week" by the News Tribune where homeowners were urged to spruce up their houses. Numerous paint dealerships ran ads promoting their services.
