Disaster Averted

Only the clock tower is saved in this old City Hall proposal presented Tuesday to the Coty Council. The proposal, jointly made by Alan Liddle, James Harris and William Reed, local architects, calls for tearing down most of the old City Hall and building a new structure for a performing arts auditorium. The new structure would span Commerce Street and have its main entrance on Broadway, near the old Elks Temple at left.
