"There's Danger Ahead...School Begins!" This was the message behind "Live and Let Live Week in Tacoma" as proclaimed by Mayor Harold Tollefson for the week of August 31 to September 5, 1953. The proclamation was issued to remind citizens that school was about to begin, and that extra caution in driving was advised. Drivers were urged to keep within speed limits, stay well behind the car ahead, grant the right of way, keep off center lines, always signal, and pay attention all of the time.
