More than 300 folks came to Tacoma Library’s Main Branch to listen to Katherine Applegate, author of The One and Only Ivan, talk about the B & I Circus Store’s famous gorilla. Many members of the audience had their own stories to share about the silverback gorilla that spent twenty-seven years of his life alone in a cage before being moved to the Atlanta Zoo. Some recalled childhood visits to see Ivan, while others spoke of working for the B & I and taking care of Ivan. It was a great night of stories and a lovely tribute to Tacoma’s gorilla.
